At a Tongan feast, even the table cloth comes from the islands: banana leaves cover the tables as we sit down for a meal to remember.

When in Tonga, well, do as the Tongans do: sit, enjoy, and eat.

In Vava'u, fishing boats are also the freighters and the water taxis. On Fridays, islanders come home from the "mainland," Neiafu, as do the older children, who spend the week in town going to school.

Tonga and Tongans could not be more welcoming to visiting sailors.
