A Bavaria Cruiser 40 sails out of Annapolis, Maryland, from the Horizon Yacht Charter flagship U.S. base.

If you’ve sailed with Horizon Yacht Charters from any of its four bases throughout the Caribbean and long for the day when you can book one of its boats for a bareboat vacation in the U.S., you’re in luck.

With partner Bavaria USA, producer of the Farr-designed Cruiser line, Horizon pulled off a successful debut summer 2011 charter season from its flagship base in Annapolis, Maryland. Now it’s announced that it plans to open bases in time for the summer sailing season of 2013 in Newport, Rhode Island; Chicago, Illinois; and San Francisco, California. Both the Cruiser line and the new Vision series from Bavaria Germany will be available for ownership, management, and charter. “Our plan is to do what’s appropriate for each region’s charter market,” says Kenny Feld, Bavaria Yachts USA managing director. “We’re seeking owners eager to place boats in management.”

For those who can’t get enough of the tropics, Horizon also plans to look into creating incentive programs so clients find it attractive to sail with the company in the United States as well as in the Caribbean. “There’s nothing concrete yet but we’ll be looking into it,” Feld says. And remember, summer 2013 at home is closer than you think. For details, contact Bavaria Yachts USA.
