Bill's Boat Blog: Delphia 47

The Delphia name may not be as well known as some other production builders here in the States, but Delphia Yachts have been building boats since 1990, and they've earned a solid reputation for building high-quality boats in Europe.
The Delphia 47 is the flagship of the line, and I think it could provide a welcome alternative to those looking for a boat in this size range. On deck, it has clean, modern lines, a good-sized cockpit, and dual helms that provide both excellent visibility as well as make it easy to board the boat from the stern. The good-sized sail plan should provide plenty of power under sail, and the easily driven hull with a deep bulbed keel should stand up to its canvas well.
The accommodations plan is available in either a 3- or 4-cabin layout. The 3-cabin layout dedicates all the interior space forward of the mast to the owners cabin and ensuite head. The guest cabin aft aren't as bit but they too are equipped with adjacent heads. In both versions the main saloon is open and airy. Unlike most American-built boats that have a U-shaped galley situated at the base of the companionway stairs, the galley runs along the hull on the port side that's more in fashion in Europe. That means there's only one long seat in the saloon to stretch out on, but there's still plenty of seating around the table on the bench seat. The back rest of the seat also forms a nice brace point for those working in the galley.
