Hunter 45 DS: Mini Review

Cruising World 2008 New Boat Showcase

Sep 12, 2007
By Jeremy McGeary (More articles by this author)
Hunter Marine has combined the aft-cabin space of a center cockpit with the light-filled deck saloon into a hermaphrodite arrangement that draws on the positives of both. The cockpit is elevated in comparison to a conventional aft cockpit, and that in turn creates a clear view from the helm over the elevated house top.

Under the cockpit is a centerline berth in a walkabout cabin that uses the boat's beam to the fullest advantage. Forward, a Pullman double allows a large head and shower combo to fit in the bow while a generous vanity counter shares the cabin's starboard side with a huge hanging locker. Under the raised mid-cabin deck, the saloon shares typical Hunter volume and light with a large, seaworthy galley and a nav area that will accommodate both paper charts and a range of electronic support media.
