J/97: A Mini Review

Carol Vernon reviews this racer-cruiser for the 2010 CW Sailboat Show.

The new J-97 is a 31 foot race boat with full standing headroom and a very fast cruiser. The easily driven hull is stable and the keel and rudder are designed to be forgiving, allowing the average sailor to sustain maximum performance with ease. A non-overlapping, roller furling jib and asymmetric spinnaker on a retractable bowsprit should provide fun, exciting sailing in total control for a crew of two, but there is plenty of room for more friends. Below there is galley, head, large salon table, nav. station and bunks for six. And, with full length cockpit seats, another two could sleep on deck in a pinch. A true racer-cruiser.
