Tartan 4300 : Mini Review

Cruising World 2008 New Boat Showcase

Sep 13, 2007
By Jeremy McGeary (More articles by this author)

Tim Jackett and the team at Tartan Yachts continue to up the seduction ante of the Tartan line with the Tartan 4300. Its styling, with its marked sheer and understated, conventional coachroof lines, recalls the classic Tartans of yore. Beneath the surface, the infused-epoxy-laminate hull speaks of a boat that's thoroughly up to date in terms of technology. A carbon-fiber mast is standard kit, along with the Tartan carbon "Pocket Boom" that contains the main, and a self-tacking jib to make shorthanded sailing a breeze.

Belowdecks, Tartan offers a choice of a two- or three-cabin layout. Angled bulkheads create visually interesting surroundings while co-opting available space into the best and maximum use. As we've come to expect, cherry joinerwork sets the tone and the atmosphere, and a high standard for the company's competitors to meet
