Catch Lin and Larry Pardey in Oakland

Accomplished bluewater cruisers will be at the Sail Expo in Oakland, California, through April 22, 2007.

Visitors to Sail Expo in Oakland, CA will be invited to come on board 29-foot Taleisin, the boat that has taken Lin and Larry Pardey over 67,000 miles including a doubling of Cape Horn. Lin and Larry will be joining BAADS (Bay Area Association of Disabled Sailors) from April 18th to April 22 at Jack London Square to raise awareness of the sailing opportunities offered by BAADs not only for those with disabilities but for anyone looking for a way to get out sailing.

Members of BAADS and special volunteers will be on board to show special features of the boat. Lin and Larry will be available for at least six hours each day to answer cruising-related questions. A raffle to raise funds to keep BAADS floating on its waterline will be going on all during the show, with the draw on Sunday at 4 p.m. You need not be present to win. Prizes already donated by Paradise Cay Publications, Svendson Marine, Good Old Boat and the Pardeys include, among other items, sailing artworks, fleece jackets, and a hydrostatically inflated personal floatation vest. The prizes can be viewed at the booth in the main tent where Lin and Larry will also be signing books including their newest release, the revised and expanded third edition of “Care and Feeding of Sailing Crew.”
