Cats Pounce Their Way into the Fleets
From the Bahamas to the islands of the Caribbean, more catamarans have joined charter fleets in time for high-season sailing in 2008.
A 45-foot Leopard catamaran called Alpha Cat is the newest member of the three-boat fleet of Cruise Abaco, Abaco Island, Bahamas. A captain sails the boat during the day, but leaves guests to enjoy their privacy in a different anchorage each night. The captain is dropped off and picked up each day by powerboat. The company is also certified to offer instruction through the American Sailing Association. For more details contact the company (242-577-0148, www.cruiseabaco.com).
Tortola Marine Management Yacht Charters, which will exhibit a new Fountaine Pajot Salina 48 in October at the U.S. Sailboat Show in Annapolis, is offering the boat for purchase through its charter ownership program. The boat comes with four cabins, four heads, a generator, and air conditioning. Contact TMM for details (800-633-0155, www.sailtmm.com).
