Sign Up Now for Women's Sailing Convention
The 19th Annual Women's Sailing Convention presented by the Southern California Yachting Association is set for Saturday, February 2, at the Del Rey Yacht Club in Marina del Rey. BoatU.S. is the primary sponsor of the event. The convention is open to all women from novices to experts, and the program is packed with both on- and off-the-water workshops: Suddenly Singlehanded, Sail Trim, Cruising Preparedness, Basic Navigation, Anchoring, Spinnaker Rigging, and Going Offshore.
All of the workshops are presented by top women sailors from Southern California. Guest speaker is Captain Linda Newland, a maritime attorney and American Sailing Association instructor who holds the women's singlehanded Transpac speed record and skippered the all-women 1997 Transpac team.
This event, for women only, is a regular sellout, and participation is limited to just 220 this year due to a change in venue. Registration is $160, which includes breakfast, lunch, dinner, and all workshops and handouts.
