Massachusetts Sailing Club for Singles Seeks Members
In February, 2001, the Landfall Sailing Club was founded in eastern Massachusetts to encourage and promote the sport of sailing and seamanship for single people of good character over the age of 35. The club seeks to bring together boatowners and people who want to sail, but dont have boats. The emphasis is on enjoying the sport. The combined sailing experience of both captains and crews is enormous, guaranteeing an increase in sailing skills and an awareness of the marine environment.
Experience is not a criterion for membership, but as a genuine interest in sailing is, we expect that an applicant would attend a Coast Guard approved safe boating course.
The club is a year-round, non-profit organization offering daysails, weekend sails, and occasional cruises in the Eastern Massachusetts and Buzzards Bay areas. Members yachts vary in size from 23 to 46 feet and are moored from Winthrop on the North Shore of Boston to Westport on the south coast of Massachusetts.
Fellowship is fostered through the year with bike rides, skiing, hikes, visits to museums, concerts, dockside dinners, and raftups. Each of the events happen because of the initiative and participation of members. Active participation and consideration of other members creates a host of new friends.
Monthly gatherings of all members are held on the first Thursday of each month at 7:00 p.m. at selected locations. At these gatherings, we share food, schedule sailings and share plans and ideas. Interested sailors may contact Donald Weaver, Unit 5E, Village Way, Norton, MA 02766, (508) 222-9941.
