Our horrible experience at Habortown in Ft. Pierce
Our horrible experience at Habortown in Ft. Pierce
Report AbuseIt's been three years or more but I still shudder when I think of Habortown. That May we had spent several days at their docks (and a couple of thousand in their yard) and generally enjoyed our stay. So as we were passing by the next fall on our way south, we anchored outside and attempted to dinghy in. As we came into what we remembered being the dinghy dock, the most incredibly rude and nasty man was waiting to make sure we never stepped ashore. We had been on the boat for days and wanted to stretch our legs, grab some snacks or groceries, and very likely buy a meal in the restaurant there on the dock, but to this guy my family of three (including our seven-year-old) were vagrants, bums trying to freeload. I offered to pay a fee to tie up, but this guy literally wouldn't even talk to us except to threaten us. Afterwards I e-mailed the marina manager and tell him how we had been treated and he responded simply that they had a new policy. He did not even apologize for how we were treated! For all I know, he was the same guy we'd met at the dock.
I will never spend another dime at Harbortown and urge all cruisers to do the same.
