Sail Azores Yacht Charter will add a base at Ponta Delgada Marina on São Miguel Island, the largest and most populous member of the Azores group. Bookings from that location are being taken from March 2015 onward.
With direct flights to cities in Europe (Frankfurt, Munich, London, Paris, Amsterdam, Manchester, Dublin, Zurich, Copenhagen, Stockholm) and North America (Boston, Toronto), the city of Ponta Delgada is the Azores’ main air hub.
Known as the Green Island for the exuberance of its vegetation and abundance of cultivated fields, São Miguel Island offers sailors renowned natural wonders like the Sete Cidades municipality, located in the center of a 3-mile-wide volcanic crater, and Lagoa do Fogo crater lake.
Ponta Delgada Marina provides 670 berths and full services. It is located in the center of the city, within walking distance of shopping, sightseeing and provisioning.
The Ponta Delgado fleet includes a 2015 Dufour 450 Grand’ Large with four cabins and a bow thruster, and a 2011 Dufour 375 Grand’ Large. The fleet at the Sail Azores main base on Horta, on Faial Island, includes a 2013 Dufour 450 Grand’ Large, a 2013 Dufour 405 Grand’ Large, a 2011 Dufour 375 Grand’ Large and a 2011 Dufour 375 Grand’ Large.
