Marina Upgrade To Enhance Newport Waterfront

--
by The Editors

In a town famed for its waterfront facilities, one marina is seeking to
raise the bar. FORTY 1º NORTH, located in the heart of Newport, R.I.,
at 351 Thames Street, recently announced plans for a state-of-the-art
marina, two restaurants, a private event space, a specialty retail
shop, and four luxury rental units.

The
marina is being completely rebuilt with brand new floating docks, slips
for vessels up to 250 feet, 480-volt electric service, and a full
program of yacht services including pump-outs, wash-downs, and launch.

FORTY
1º NORTH will also feature an open-air restaurant, The Grill, offering
tableside and lounge seating and a covered bar pavilion on a fixed pier
directly over the water.

FORTY 1º NORTH offers several guest
packages: the Summer Guest Program allows access to the facilities for
the season and includes house charging privileges, dinghy dockage and
special events; the Yacht Tender Program allows daily access by boat
for vessels under 36 feet, and use of the marina services.

The
facilities have been optimized to host private events, including
weddings, rehearsal dinners, corporate meetings, and other parties, and
can accommodate receptions of up to 350 people.  A large landscaped
courtyard and other outdoor spaces can be configured and tented in a
number of ways.  Two indoor rooms with water views and decks can
accommodate receptions of up to 150 people in each or can be used
together for receptions of up to 300.

In addition to the
improvements at the 351 Thames Street site, FORTY 1º NORTH will re-open
Christie's on Perry Mill Wharf at the intersection of Thames Street and
America's Cup Boulevard, upgrading the popular gathering place with
lobster-in-the-rough-style dining and a retro environment.
