Steve Fossett's PlayStation Sets English Channel Mark

Steve Fossett’s 125-foot catamaran, PlayStation, capped 2001 with her fifth world sailing record of the year (Miami-New York, TransAtlantic, 24-hour, around the Isle Of Wight, English Channel) with a cross-channel record last December of 6:21:44, averaging 21.69 knots over the 138-mile course from Cowes on England’s Isle of Wight to St. Malo in Brittany, France. The time took 27 minutes off the previous record (6:49:19) set by Tracy Edwards on Royal & Sun Alliance.
