Beneteau First 40: A Mini Review

Beneteau First 40: A Mini Review

Hot on the heels of the First 45, Beneteau is launching the First 40, also from the Farr Yacht Design studio. The strong family resemblance is there, in overall styling and in the lightweight, light-colored, and light-filled interior.
The prospect of lively performance is there, too, with the deep (8 feet) bulbed/fin keel (a shallower one is offered for depth-challenged waters) and powerful rig. A turbocharger in the form of taller carbon-fiber spar is also available.

If getting to and from racing venues involves a little family cruising, the First 40 accommodates that in classic Beneteau style. Private cabins fore and aft and a large saloon for relaxing or socializing ensure that all the appropriate amenities and comforts are on hand.
