M 65: A Mini Review

Carol Vernon reviews this multi purpose cruiser for the CW 2010 Sailboat Show

M 65: A Mini Review
M65 368

Could you cruise on a mini-transat design? Sure, people sail these boats across oceans and one couple in the Northeast lived on a Mini right through last winter... and they still like each other! The M65 is designed by Owen Clarke Designs with the intensity usually reserved for Open 60s racers. This all around, high performance day sailer/pocket cruiser/ocean racer is produced right here in the USA. A fat little boat (relatively roomy below) with a huge sail area (fast) and great safety features such as being unsinkable. Sounds like a great coastal cruiser to me, and you could race it across the ocean…but you don't have to.
