Tayana Annapolis 64: A Mini Review
Designer Robb Ladd joined Noyce Yachts of Annapolis, Maryland, and Ta Yang Yacht Building of Taiwan to create this offshore beauty. The cored, vinylester-infused hull and the many systems are built and installed to American Boat & Yacht Council standards, resulting in a swift, safe, and stout offshore cruiser. With raked stem, reverse transom, raised-deck saloon, and wraparound deadlight, the Tayana is contemporary in style. The twin helms, cockpit ergonomics, and deck layout are well conceived and executed. Massive deck hardware with electric winches and hydraulic furlers handily manage the solent rig. The interior is more classic than contemporary. With rich, dark woods and fine fit and finish, it's as stately as a law office. The unique layout reflects a high degree of collaborative input from the owner. With generous sail area, a 170-horsepower Westerbeke, and cavernous tankage, this one longs for distant shores.
