Coco Chanel

This is a photo of my newest crew member, Coco Chanel, who is a Cockapoo. She is four months old in this picture, which was taken on the day of the Frostbite Race, the last race of the season convened by the Britannia Yacht Club, which is one of the oldest sailing clubs in North America. The Frostbite Race is one of the best club races of the season, which is traditionally held on the first Saturday in October when the Fall colours transform the forests of the river Valley. It's a "no rules" fun race. Toques (wool hats) and winter coats are the order of the day. Boats  sail from the mark in front of BYC to Phiney's Point, 10 miles up river. If truth be told a few skippers have been known to crank up the auxiliary to remain competitive. At Phiney's all of the boats raft up and we have the best potluck meal of the year. Coco was the newest member of BYC to participate in the Frostbite Race, on the winning boat which just happened to sail all the way. It's always good to have a seadog aboard. Ahoy there matey!
