We do most of our sailing with a roller furling genoa and the red and white mizzen staysail. That stay sail points to 50 degrees. At 2,5 m draft and a full coke bottled keel we are not going to exceed our hull speed, so why use uneccesary canvas? Anyway, this is the East coast of Africa "The wild Coast" or "the washing machine" as refered to by our Australian circumnavigating cruising set.

The English sailing maxim applies here: -

"Sailing to weather is for fools and charlatons.

Sailing with it is for gentlemen."
