Shark Harbor/Little Harbor, Santa Catalina Island
Shark Harbor/Little Harbor, Santa Catalina Island
Well known to Southern California boaters, Santa Catalina Island is a 26-mile-long sunken mountain range 22 miles offshore from Los Angeles. The shore of the island facing LA is chockablock with little inlets offering ample mooring or anchoring opportunities in a marvelous microclimate, protected from prevailing winds by the island's mountains, sunny and temperate most of the year. On the backside of the island are Shark Harbor and adjacent Little Harbor. Anchor in Little Harbor and then body surf, boogie board or surf in Shark Harbor's clean waters. It's a special treat for us SoCal water aficionados.
