"Maverick" at the Exuma Cays
"Maverick" at the Exuma Cays
When I finished school in 2005 I borrowed our 27-foot small and 35-year-old sailboat (which we had bought on Ebay for only 6.000 Euro) and sailed across the atlantic ocean, with stops at Portugal, Madeira and the Canary Islands. To get to the other side took me 31-days nonstop at a speed of only 100 miles per day! I spent a lot of time in the caribbean, fixing my boat and waiting for parts (the most difficult part was to find a new transmission for my very old engine). After 2 month on the hard I set sail again, headed north to the Bahamas (where I took that picture), spend a lot of time in those beautiful islands of the Exuma Cays, before I sailed over to the states. After 2 more month sailing up the eastcoast I finally sold my boat in Charleston, SC - again on Ebay! And I even gained 20 Euros! ;-)
Do you recognise the sand on my back? It is shaped like a "thumbs-up-sign" ;-)
