Sonrisa beats across the Gulf of Mexico in a squall: June 2012
We purchased our boat in Panama City, Florida and wanted to spend summer and hurricane season on the Chesapeake Bay. There was only one real option and that was to sail her around. The trip was frought with squalls, storms and downright nastiness. We lost our main halfway through the trip. Repaired it and lost it again off the coast of Cape Canaveral. Upon ducking into the ICW I was greeted with a NE front blowing 25-30 for three days. I sat at AYB and then Old Point Comfort waiting to see Thimble Shoals Light. We are all now safe and sound in Solomons, MD. and enjoying the beautiful Bay.
