"Gales, Whales and the Baja Ha-Ha" is the movie trailer for the upcoming video, a 45-minute feature film shot in HD, depicting the events surrounding the Baja Ha-Ha XVI (Oct. 26-Nov. 8, 2009).
The sailing documentary follows the 760-mile 2009 Baja Ha-Ha race to the cape (San Diego to Cabo San Lucas). The fleet experienced gale conditions for two days and a rare sinking of a vessel by whales. The film will include tips on how to prepare for the cruise, what works, and what to expect along the way. The video depicts life aboard a 1977 Islander 36, "Freedom Won" as it races to the cape.
The annual event, founded by Latitude 38 magazine, set a record for the number of boats registered. In the class of 2009, 165 boats and 601 sailors participated (crossed the starting line).
"Gales, Whales and the Baja Ha-Ha" will debut at the Seattle Boat Show (Jan 29-Feb 6, 2010), Seattle, Washington. For the latest release date and to view the feature in HD, visit OysterYachting.com
