Shacks and Shearwaters

Shacks and Shearwaters

Added: March 20, 2011

This is a small 4 min. preview of a 52 min. cruising adventure across Bass Strait (Australia), to the NW coast of Tasmania. Bass Strait has over 40 islands and the NW coast of Tasmania is a wonderful cruising ground to explore, with plenty of protected anchorges amongst the island clusters. Summer is crayfish season and also the time when millions of muttonbirds (shearwaters), fly down from the northern Hemisphere to breed on the Strait islands. Lots of wildlife, good fishing, with plenty of secluded beaches for crews to revel sharing a campfire on the beach, cook up your day's catch of succulent crayfish, savour a good red or just relax as you gaze out to your vessel silhouetted against a painted sunset - what a life and what a place - that's what cruising in Tassie is all about. I am not a professional video editor, I just like to record my adventures in Leearcki so one day I can sit back in my retirement and relive the wonderful times my owner built yacht afforded me. Above all my videos strive to entertain other viewers, whether or not they're sailors themselves, or just armchair captains - hope you enjoy.
