North Carolina Cruisers Receive Clean Wake Award

Seven Seas Cruising Association recognizes sailors' exemplary cruising conduct.

Bob and Karen Abt of Holly Springs, North Carolina, recently received the Seven Seas Cruising Association’s Clean Wake Award, presented to sailors who best exemplify one of the association’s main principles-always leave a clean wake.

Aboard their Cal 39 Aquila, the Abts sailed the 2006 Bermuda Cup from Hampton, Virginia, to St. George’s, Bermuda. It was the couple’s first bluewater voyage, but that didn’t stop fellow cruisers from acknowledging the Abts’ exemplary conduct by presenting them with the award. The Clean Wake Award is awarded annually to participants of the Bermuda Cruising Rally, the Caribbean 1500, and the Baja Ha-Ha cruising rally.
