Savagely Sweet

This is an on-line extra for

Chocolate-Butterscotch Bars

This is my favorite treat (the recipe was given to me by a dear friend of mine).

1 stick butter
1 cup graham cracker crumbs
1 6-ounce package chocolate bits (use Hershey’s or a major name brand)
1 6-ounce package butterscotch bits
1 cup pecans, chopped
1 cup flaked coconut
1 can sweetened condensed milk

Melt butter in 9 x 9 x 2-inch aluminum pan. Sprinkle crumbs over butter and pat into a crust. (Or melt butter in a small saucepan, mix in crumbs, and pat into a crust in any shallow baking pan.) Sprinkle in next four ingredients. Pour milk evenly over entire pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Cut into squares while warm. Yield: 12 as a dessert; 24 as sweet snacks.

The following is the quickest, easiest recipe I know for chicken legs.

Cranberry Chicken

6 chicken legs
1/3 cup hot water
1 package dried onion soup mix
1 small jar cranberry jelly, or more for a sweeter taste
Pepper, to taste
Parsley, to taste
Chives, to taste (optional)

Pour hot water into a large mixing bowl and stir in onion soup. Add jelly and mix well. Add chicken legs and spices and mix well to coat chicken evenly. Cover and refrigerate for at least one hour. Place chicken and sauce in a baking pan and cover loosely with aluminum foil. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes. Remove foil and bake another 20 minutes or until skin is brown.
