Take a break from your summer routine on Wednesday, August 19 and join CW editors Herb McCormick and Mark Pillsbury when they sit down with David Thoreson for another session of Cocktails with Cruising World, a free webinar series of conversations with sailors, contributors and friends. Thoreson will talk about his work, sailing adventures and how the far north latitudes have changed over the course of his visits there.

Thoreson has worked as a professional photographer, sailor and explorer documenting the outdoors locally in the Iowa Great Lakes region, and globally, sailing 70,000-miles across the world’s oceans and polar regions aboard the sailboats Cloud Nine and Ocean Watch, the latter being a voyage around the Americas that he chronicled along with McCormick. Exploring the Arctic Ocean led David to the issue of climate change, altering his life and work forever. Thoreson hopes to inspire others to explore their own connections to nature, especially water quality issues. David is a National Fellow of the Explorers Club and presents at TEDx, universities and institutions across the globe.
