East Coast sailors are in for a treat this summer, when they’ll have a couple of opportunities to see the 50 participants taking part in the Tall Ships Atlantic Challenge 2009. The ships will be stopping in Charleston, South Carolina, and Boston, Massachusetts, as part of a regatta that will begin in Vigo, Spain, and will stop at five ports before finishing in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

Charleston’s Harborfest (www.charlestonmaritimefestival.com) will run from June 26 through 29, with a parade of sail on the closing day. The Sail Boston festival (wwww.sailboston.com), scheduled from July 8 to 12, will begin with a Grand Parade of Sail into Boston Harbor, continue with a crew and cadet parade through the downtown streets of Boston.
