Quick Look: Hanse 545

Carol Vernon reviews this racy offshore cruiser for the 2010 CW Sailboat Show.
Hanse

The Hanse 545 combines aggressive styling, a large open cockpit and a sumptuous interior in a performance oriented boat built for the rigors of offshore cruising. The new coach roof design, low and lean with vertical sides is reminiscent of Herreshoff styling yet at the same time super modern plus totally practical, allowing for wide side decks, good visibility and maximum headroom below. The jib is self tacking, winches are within reach of the dual helms and there are several keel options. Below decks three double cabins can be arranged in several ways and there is room for a crew cabin in the bow.
