HR 54: Mini Review
Cruising World 2008 New Boat Showcase

Sep 12, 2007
By Jeremy McGeary (More articles by this author)
As a purveyor of robust, earnest-looking, mile-eating bluewater cruising yachts, Hallberg-Rassy has few peers, and the HR 54 simply underscores its builder's reputation. Lines by Germán Frers and styling in consultation with the big blue ocean give the boat its unmistakable, no-nonsense appearance while the accomodations are partitioned into practical spaces with easy and secure access from one to another.

The standard arrangement has three cabins and a choice of locations for the galley. A walk-in engine room is one benefit of the center cockpit design, another being total privacy in the aft cabin, which has a double berth and a single or day berth. Hallberg Rassy, naturally, offers several alternatives to the standard interior components.

Reflecting the power of the rig needed to drive such a comprehensively fitted out yacht, both genoa-sheet winches and one of two mainsheet winches are electric as standard.
