Hylas 70 Twin Wheel

Cruising World 2008 New Boat Showcase

Sep 12, 2007
By Jeremy McGeary (More articles by this author)
It was only a matter of time before Hylas extended its range of svelte, Germán Frers-designed luxury cruisers upward to this logical level—they have always felt like bigger boats in tight skins. At 70 feet, the proportions above and below relax into a very natural balance.

The owner's quarters aft are well insulated from the rest of the accommodations. Two queen-berth cabins forward each have a head and share a shower, and a fourth cabin, with upper and lower bunks and en-suite facilities could house a professional crew (who will have lots of equipment to service in the large machinery space under the cockpit).

By fitting twin wheels in the center cockpit, the Hylas team has not only given the helmsman a clearer view and better access to the sail controls, but has provided an easy way to enter and exit the cockpit from the broad aft deck
