Island Packet 465: Mini Review
Cruising World 2008 New Boat Showcase

Sep 12, 2007
By Jeremy McGeary (More articles by this author)
It was only five years ago that Island Packet embraced the center cockpit, with the Island Packet 485. The 445 soon followed, and the 465 has evolved from that, its extra length deriving largely from a modified stern with an aft-raked transom that provides room for cruising necessities in a large lazarette and for a 10-foot dinghy on the aft deck.

The rig is IP conventional, with roller furling main, jib, and self-tacking staysail on a Hoyt boom, and the expected platform with its double-roller arrangement projects two anchors clear of the stem.

Two staterooms essentially equal in space and ensuite amenities and both with island berths fill opposite ends of the interior, their privacy ensured by the galley, nav/office and saloon that occupy the middle of the boat.
