Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 42i: Mini Review
Cruising World 2008 New Boat Showcase

Sep 12, 2007
By Jeremy McGeary (More articles by this author)
Jeanneau's new Marc Lombard-designed "i" series now covers most cases of "two-footitis." The Sun Odyssey 42i, with its remarkably voluminous interior and spacious cockpit is the logical step up from the 39i introduced last year. Every nook below is less like a cranny and the decor of teak and light-colored upholstery unites the separate areas and their functions into a homogeneous whole.

The "i" refers to the resin-injection technique used in molding the deck, which, by ensuring a consistent and uniform resin-to-glass ratio throughout the structure, assures structural integrity at optimum weight.

Twin steering wheels open up the cockpit for the twin purposes of smooth operation under sail and at-rest activities.
