Sparkman & Stephens is raffling off two newly discovered copies of "The Sailor's Game," a board game the design firm introduced in 1986.
Sure, there are lots of ways to while away the time at anchor: reading, playing cards, or watching a movie. What about you board-game enthusiasts?

CW web editor Michael Lovett is a Chutes and Ladders devotee; I, myself, am a Scrabble fan. But how many of you own--or have ever heard of--The Sailor's Game by Sparkman & Stephens? Yes, that Sparkman & Stephens.

S&S introduced the board game in 1986. The game is intended for ages 10 and older, and up to five people can play individually or in teams. Each sailor plays with a two-inch-tall pewter yacht, each a classic S&S design. The action takes players on a chase around the world, and the game will appeal to both racers and cruisers, as the racing yachts can only land on the blue-wave spaces while the white-wave spaces can only be occupied by cruising yachts.

The game comes with 360 game cards, each with six questions on topics such as seamanship, equipment, navigation, and nautical trivia and tradition. This pursuit of maritime knowledge is sure to challenge old salts and educate the newbies.

The folks at S&S were cleaning their archives room recently and stumbled upon a handful of these gems, unused, still in the box, and wrapped in cellophane. And they've decided to raffle off two copies of this hard-to-find game, which is no longer in production.

It's simple to enter, and none of the usual annoying restrictions apply. The contest is open to everyone, even S&S employees, friends, relatives, and business associates. Just send an email to: info@sparkmanstephens.com and write "game raffle" in the subject line. Include your name, address, and telephone number so that S&S can contact you, should you be one of the lucky two. But don't delay: Entries must be received by June 15. The drawing will be held July 1.
