The 5th annual Flip Flop Regatta will be held on Boston Harbor August 10 and 11, 2007. More than 60 boats from around the Northeast will sail in the race, and there’s plenty of events planned for landlubbers, too, such as the Mount Gay Rum tent party, live entertainment, and an auction, all of which will be held at the Courageous Sailing Center, Pier 4 at the Navy Yard in Charlestown, Ma.
All proceeds from the event will benefit the ALLY Foundation, which was founded in memory of Alexandra Nicole Zapp, an avid sailor who was murdered at a highway rest stop in July 2002 by a repeat sex offender. The foundation’s mission is to advocate for changes in legal policies that will lead to the prevention of violent sex offenses.
