Hanse 430e: Mini Review

Cruising World 2008 New Boat Showcase
by Jeremy McGeary

Hanse Yachts introduced a styling change with its "e" series. The Hanse 430e has the larger cabin-trunk windows and more chiselled deck lines of this new look, together with a dark stripe down the center of the coachroof that houses tinted deadlights and flush deck hatches. Control lines led aft from the mast run under the deck to remove them from view and from under foot.

Sail handling is reduced to the minimum number of operations by use of a self-tacking jib and an A-style mainsheet that eliminates the traveler.

In the 430e, Hanse has expanded its "Individual Cabin Concept" to boats at the middle of its range. Consequently, belowdecks accommodations, executed in Hanse's modernistic style, are available in a variety of arrangements assembled from a selection of modules.
