2012 Newport Bermuda Race

Whether or not you're heading to Bermuda with the fleet this Friday, June 15th, the race program has lots of great offshore sailing information.

Newport Bermuda program

Organized by the Cruising Club of America and the Royal Bermuda Yacht Club, the Newport Bermuda Race is a 635-mile offshore classic that was founded in 1906 as the first ocean race for amatuers. Now, more than 100 years later, the same spirit still holds true with 90 percent of the boats still crewed by family and friends.

Even if you aren’t heading to Bermuda this Friday, you can download a PDF of the informative race program, which was produced by Cruising World, for info on crossing the Gulf Stream, cruising Bermuda once you get there, and what to pack in your sea bag.

Check out _Cruising World_’s Facebook page on Friday for pictures from the start!
