Bluewater Adventures of North Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, takes guest crews on wilderness excursions aboard a pair of 70-foot ketches outfitted for conditions found throughout the Canadian and Southeast Alaska coastlines.

Island Roamer and Island Odyssey, handled by professional crews, each take up to 16 charter guests (based on double occupancy) to such destinations as the Gulf Islands, northern Vancouver Island, and the Queen Charlotte Islands, lying farther to the north.

Routes take crews and guests along the Inside Passage and to the Southeast Alaska coast. Meals, which are served buffet style, and some other amenities are included in the cost of the trip.
One of Bluewater Adventures’ tours was selected by National Geographic Traveler magazine for inclusion among its listing of the world’s 50 best trips. For the 2009 and 2010 trip schedules, rates, and other details, log on to the company’s website (www.bluewateradventures.ca).

Fly Direct from Canada into St. Lucia
If your charter starts in St. Lucia, in the Caribbean’s Windward Islands, and you fly in from Canada, you’re in luck. Through the winter of 2009, Air Canada Vacations offers four nonstop flights, one per day, on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays to the island from Toronto. Direct flights from Montreal are scheduled on Mondays through the spring of 2009. For details, contact the airline (www.aircanadavacations.com).

Most Caribbean charter companies with nearby bases will agree to deliver boats for a fee to vacation sailors who want to start their trip from St. Lucia; at least one-The Moorings-has a base on the island, at Marigot Bay. Contact the company (www.moorings.com) for details.

Sunreef Debuts Luxury Catamarans
Two new crewed models added to Sunreef Yachts for 2009 are Seazen II, with an interior influenced by Japanese style, and Zahora, a Sunreef 62. Each cat can accommodate eight guests, including children. Seazeen II has three double cabins and one cabin with four folding beds that are suitable for children. Zahora features an enlarged sleeping-cabin area, with additional open space and bunks between cabins in each hull, another good solution for a family chartering party.
