Supporters turned out here in droves July 1, 2010, to see the Auld Mug and to help Sail Newport, Rhode Island’s public sailing center, welcome BMW Oracle Racing during its victory tour stopover celebrating the syndicate’s win of the 33rd America’s Cup in Valencia, Spain.

The crowds and the festive parade of boats in Newport harbor, which included 12-Meter-class cup winners, weren’t without their motives, as the City by the Sea is making a big push to host the 34th America’s Cup races.
