Final “Whiskey” Plank Installed on Spirit of South Carolina

Long-awaited tall ship will serve educational purposes

Ten months after hoisting the first of approximately 200 planks into place aboard the Spirit of South Carolina, shipwrights carefully wedged the last mammoth plank of long leaf yellow pine into place on July 21. The 140-foot-tall Spirit of South Carolina was designed and constructed as an educational platform for the students of South Carolina.
