The Bitter End Yacht Club, a longtime favorite among sailors exploring Virgin Gorda’s North Sound, is steadily rebuilding and expanding its offerings. After reopening its docks and core marina facilities in the wake of Hurricane Irma, the resort has now turned its attention back to overnight accommodations.
This year, Bitter End is adding 10 new guest rooms to its growing shoreside footprint—four Beach Bungalows nestled on Pelican Beach just north of the village, and six additional Marina Lofts perched over the water. That brings the total hotel offering to 12 rooms, with plans to reach 18 in the near future.
The new Beach Bungalows offer direct water access and western views over the Sound, ideal for catching the sunset. Meanwhile, the Marina Lofts—designed with a nautical, over-the-water layout—include private docks, making them especially appealing to sailors who arrive by boat but want a night or two ashore.
Beyond the current expansion, Bitter End has sketched out plans for future amenities including a spa, a pool, new retail space, and a refreshed yacht club concept. A limited residential offering is also under consideration.

Even as development continues, the Bitter End team says it remains focused on the resort’s connection to the sea and surrounding community. The Bitter End Foundation, a US-based nonprofit, supports marine conservation and local initiatives across the BVI.
For returning cruisers, the vibe remains familiar—family-friendly, water-focused, and centered around the docks, with dinghies, kids, and barefoot sailors bringing North Sound’s “village” atmosphere back to life.
