Four Seas, a Santa Ana, California-based company that offers a range of inflatable boats and kayaks, has introduced the Fore Runner—a product the company says is a “new and significantly improved” folding, inflatable RIB.

The Fore Runner has a re-engineered hull and is built with German-made Heytex material, which adds durability and UV resistance. Tube seams are welded rather than glued, to help the RIB last longer in the saltwater environment.

Two sizes are being offered: the 290, which has a length overall of 9 feet, 6 inches; and the 340, with a length overall of 11 feet, 3 inches.

Price for the 290 is $4,050, while price for the 340 is $4,750. That price includes the travel bag, accessory bag, oars, bench seats, a pump and a repair kit.

Fore Seas says the idea is to have a “folding adventure craft,” rather than just a dinghy, which is why the Fore Runner has Railblaza mounts for use with rod holders, fillet tables, spear-gun racks and drink holders.

How fast does the Fore Runner deflate to stow? The company says the Fore Runner takes just four minutes to deflate and fold away for stowage on the big boat. Each RIB also comes with travel and accessory bags to help keep stowage tidy.
