French electric motor innovator TEMO has announced the release of its newest model—the TEMO 1000—bringing more power and versatility to the North American market. The new motor, which debuts at the Annapolis Spring Boat Show on April 25, is the follow-up to the popular, ultra-light TEMO 450 and is designed to deliver reliable auxiliary propulsion for sailboats up to 26 feet.
Like the original, the TEMO 1000 is compact, portable, and stylish, but now features a more conventional form factor to accommodate adjustable shaft height, integrated retractable tiller, and a flexible transom bracket for precise mounting. At just 33 pounds (motor and battery), the 1000 maintains its lightweight reputation, while delivering more than double the thrust of the 450.

TEMO co-founder and CEO Alexandre Seux said the goal with the 1000 was to keep the electric simplicity and sustainable ethos of the 450 while expanding its range of use.
“People loved the 450, but many owners of slightly larger boats asked for more power,” said Nicholas Steenberg, who heads TEMO-USA from Portland, Maine. “With the 1000, we’re offering an all-in-one motor for both your dinghy and your daysailer. You no longer need two different outboards for one cruising setup.”
Dealers agree. Bridget O’Brian of North Atlantic Inflatables says the TEMO 1000’s adjustable shaft and retractable tiller are ideal for boaters using both a tender and a transom-mounted auxiliary.

“We think the 1000 is going to resonate with our customers,” she said. “It’s quiet, easy to operate, and easy to carry. The repairability and sustainable design are huge bonuses.”Designed for sailors looking to simplify life aboard—and lighten their load—the TEMO 1000 opens new doors for electric propulsion in the small-boat space.
