$45,000 in Safe Boating Grant Funds Available from BoatU.S.

Continuing its support for community based safe boating initiatives, the
BoatU.S. Foundation for Boating Safety & Clean Water is making $45,000 in funding available to local volunteer organizations to promote boating safety education. Grants of up to $5,000 will be awarded for innovative programs that promote safe and responsible boating, and that can serve as models for other groups to implement.

Vanessa Pert, grant administrator for the BoatU.S. Foundation, said that since 1989, the Grassroots Grants Program has funded over $550,000 in safety-related events, printed materials and advertising campaigns around the U.S. “The Foundation is looking for new ideas and pilot programs,” said Pert. “The most intriguing applications are those that propose imaginative approaches to solving local boating safety issues and impact as many boaters as possible.”

Nonprofit and nongovernmental organizations are eligible for funding. The grant program is funded by donations from members of BoatU.S., the largest organization of recreational boaters in the world.
