Quick Look: Admiral 40

Cruising World 2008 New Boat Showcase

Derani Yachts

Admiral Yachts expects to build on the success of its Admiral 38 with this slightly larger sibling engineered to accommodate more of the luxury features catamaran sailors are demanding. To keep weight centered and help reduce wave slap, the wing deck forward is kept short. A large expanse of trampoline fills the span between the hulls.

On deck, the targa arch makes a striking visual statement, and serves to support a hard bimini that covers the cockpit’s spacious seating. The targa also elevates the mainsheet clear of the aft deck walkway.

The interior is available with four sleeping cabins in the standard version and three, along with higher specs for fit and finish, in an owners’ version. Both arrangements have queen-size doubles athwartships in the aft cabins. The galley is “up” and provides the cook a view of the world and an equal social footing with the rest of the crew.
