Hood 32: A Mini Review

Carol Vernon reviews this sleek daysailer for the CW 2010 Sailboat Show

Hood 32 mini 368

The C.W. Hood 32 looks like a sleeker version of the venerable Shields sloop. Narrow, with long overhangs and a large cockpit, modern materials and appendage design make this new boat far lighter than her predecessor, with less draft but much higher speed potential. Performance features include a cored hull and deck using biaxial fabrics, carbon mast, carbon rudder, full batten mainsail, and Harken hardware. The jib is roller furling with the drum below decks to keep the elegant look. Options include teak deck, asymmetrical spinnaker, electronics, and sail drive style electric propulsion.
