Performance, comfort, and a focus on outdoor living are the leading features of the new Moorings 4600 catamaran joining the Moorings charter fleet in fall 2006 in Tortola, Bahamas, St. Lucia, Canouan and Belize. The sailboat, just launched from the Robertson and Caine production facility in Cape Town, South Africa, will arrive in the Caribbean this fall. It will also preview at the 2006 U.S. Sailboat Show in Annapolis, Maryland, October 5 – 9, 2006.
The Moorings 4600 catamaran is the latest of the new generation of cruising catamarans to join The Moorings charter fleet, the result of a close collaboration between The Moorings, builders Robertson and Caine, and architects Morrelli & Melvin (designers of high performance cats such as record breaking Cheyenne, and the Moorings 4000, named CW Boat of the Year 2005).
The Moorings 4600 features a large cockpit with an outside dining area protected by a functional hard-top roof, which replaces the bimini. Inspired by the Moorings 6200, the unique raised-helm station is in the hard-top roof and is also covered by a hardtop. It has open access to the cockpit and all controls lead aft for excellent visibility, communication, and ease of maneuvers. The galley-up design incorporates a spacious saloon with forward facing navigation station and fully equipped galley with a cocktail bar and serving window. Accommodations include four double cabins with en suite heads and showers and an additional berth in each forepeak (one with a head).
The deck layout is clear and uncluttered, with walk-through access to the aft swim platform, wide side decks, and mainsail and jib controls all led aft to the helm station. Additional seating is found around the transom, which converts to a dinghy boarding platform.
