Gunboat Catamarans Factory Tour

Recently, CW associate editor Jen Brett had the opportunity to check out the new Gunboat factory in Wanchese, NC, on Pamlico Sound to see just what goes into producing this very cool carbon-fiber catamaran.

Gunboat 55

Gunboat modestly lays claim to creating the high-performance cruising cat genre, and the 55, designed by Nigel Irens and built at the company’s new North Carolina yard, fits right in. This is an owner-operated series, building on the success of the Gunboat 48. The Gunboat 55 is part of Cruising World‘s 2014 New Boat Showcase.

Gunboat 60

The Gunboat 60 is the third in a series of 60- to 70-foot performance cruising catamarans. The goal was to pack the amenities found in the Gunboat 62 and 66 into a slightly smaller — and faster — package. The 60 was designed by Nigel Irens for family cruising and charter. The Gunboat 60 is part of Cruising World‘s 2014 New Boat Showcase.

Gunboat 48

When it comes to all-out performance cruising catamarans, the sleek Gunboat 48 has few peers.
