Wells Fargo to Sponsor America’s Cup Class Series in Frisco

Wells Fargo today announced it will sponsor the International America’s Cup Class San Francisco (IACCSF), a four-regatta yacht racing series hosted this summer in the company’s headquarters community. With races in the fantastic sailing waters of the San Francisco Bay, the Wells Fargo team will compete in USA-11 (formerly Stars & Stripes). USA-11 is a 75-foot yacht that sailed Team Dennis Connor to the 1992 America’s Cup finals.

“Wells Fargo is proud to support this world-class series of yachting events,” said Herb Myers, Community Banking Business Priorities Head with Wells Fargo in San Francisco.”The thrill of big-boat racing will be right here in the San Francisco Bay.” Wells Fargo will also host the IACCSF Season Launch Party during the season’s first event, The Sausalito Cup.The complete IACCSF schedule includes four races: The Sausalito Cup (June 20-22); The II Moro Trophy (July 25-27); The Golden Gate Series (Sept. 6-14); and The 2003 IACC Worlds (Oct. 11-19).

Mayor Willie Brown. “With its strong tides, quirky currents and whipping winds, San Francisco Bay offers some of the most competitive and beautiful sailing waters in the world. Residents and visitors can view these races from many vistas and vantage points overlooking the Bay.”

International America’s Cup Class racing is a spectator sport that is growing in popularity. With up to 10 teams, including Larry Ellison’s Oracle BMW Racing, the stage is set for an impressive sailing competition on the San Francisco Bay. Learn more about IACCSF at (www.iaccsf.com). An Open House is scheduled for June 7-8 at The America’s Cup Class Yachting Center at Treasure Island, where the yachts are displayed and maintained. The media and public are invited to tour the center and learn more about the boats and upcoming competitions.
