Visit the Gorgeous Grenadines.

If sailing the Grenadines is not on your bucket list of places to charter, it should be. There has never been a better time to visit these enchanted isles, because now sailors can now fly directly into St. Vincent and the Grenadines from North America via the new Argyle International Airport (AIA). The newly opened Argyle International Airport boasts a 9,000-foot-long runway and an expansive apron area, which facilitates aircraft ranging from twin otters to Boeing 747s.

AIA was constructed to accommodate 1.2 million travelers per year however the islands still remain relatively quiet. “There has never been a time like this in the Grenadines,” said Philip Barnard, owner and managing director of The Barefoot Companies, which comprises Barefoot Yacht Charters, Barefoot Offshore Sailing School and Barefoot Performance Sailing, all located on St. Vincent. The islands have seen a slow, consistent growth in yacht charters over the last 5 years that does not seem to be affected by the opening of the airport. “They are still the perfect, secluded uncrowded Grenadines that a select group of sailors have enjoyed, all to themselves, for the last 30 years,” Barnard said. “We are extremely excited to see what the future will bring.”

Barefoot Yacht Charters has expanded their fleet of new Lagoon, Fountain Pajot, Bali and Dehler yachts and are also introducing the Seawind brand from Australia with their 2019 Boat of the Year-winning Seawind 1260 performance cruiser into the fleet.
